Artist & Maker – Juho Kastemaa

My Story

Growing up in the serene landscapes of Finland, I developed a deep appreciation for the materials and textures that nature provides. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to study and create ceramics in Portugal, attend an artist residency in Japan, and connect with the rich traditions of Korean pottery. These experiences shaped the way I approach clay, leading to a practice where every piece is more than just pottery — it’s an expression of art, culture, and mindfulness:

Hi, I’m Juho, the designer (Artenomi AMK) and artist behind Kastemaa Ceramics. My work blends Nordic simplicity with the spiritual craftsmanship of Korean pottery traditions. Inspired by nature, my pieces tell stories of connection, flow, and reflection.

I create unique hand-made ceramics rooted in nature, whether you’re looking for functional pottery or a decorative statement piece. From mugs to one-of-a-kind sculptures, I craft each piece with care, and when we work together, it reflects your story too.

I completed a thesis titled ‘Moon Jar as a Stream of Consciousness’, where I explored the fusion of Finnish and Korean pottery traditions. If you’re interested in understanding the research that shapes my approach to ceramics, you can read the full thesis here.

I also offer hands-on ceramics workshops for those who want to explore the creative process. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, I’ll guide you through the art of pottery — from shaping clay to glazing.

If you’re a designer, architect, or business looking for unique ceramic elements for a project or space, I’m open to collaborations. Together, we can create pieces that enhance your vision and bring an artistic touch to your space.
